The official “Last Man Standing” Twitter account recently posted a video of Tim Allen, who plays the series' protagonist Mike Baxter, reminding fans that the show's seventh season is only a month away from airing its premiere episode.

Fans have been looking forward to the Tim Allen sitcom's return ever since Fox confirmed that the studio was picking up where ABC left off. Unfortunately, the slump between its cancellation by ABC and the eventual salvation by Fox means that the show had to recast some pretty significant roles for the upcoming season. “Last Man Standing” season 7 can hopefully come back strong considering that the show will be a letdown due to the complications of its last-minute acquisition by Fox from ABC.
Fans can expect Molly McCook to replace Molly Ephraim as the Baxters' middle daughter, Mandy. “Last Man Standing” season 7 will also feature the return of Boyd Baxter, who was originally played by Flynn Morrison. The new Boyd Baxter will be played by the older actor Jet Jurgensmeyer. “The Last Man Standing” executive producer Kevin Abbott mentions that the decision to cast an older actor for Boyd Baxter came as a conscious casting decision to be able to create better storylines involving the more mature actor.
Fans who may be disappointed by Molly Ephraim being replaced by Molly McCook may have to take the re-casting as inevitable as Molly Ephraim could not be signed on for the Fox reboot due to other commitments made after the show was canceled by ABC. While Ephraim was initially in talks to come on to the show in a recurring role, it seems that talks did not push through with the decision to cast McCook instead.
Fans of “The Last Man Standing” can still expect the main cast such as Vanessa (Nancy Travis) and Kristin Baxter (Amanda Fuller) to return to the series. For those who just can't wait for the show to come back on air, “Last Man Standing” season 7 will be airing its premiere episode on Sept. 28.
