LG Electronics is speeding up its development of artificial intelligence technology solutions as it aims to further advance in this line of business. The company is planning to build an ambient computing platform that can be used nationwide.
LG Electronics revealed the past weekend that it would also work on developing AI with automatic functions. The company is setting up the computing platform as selected by LG AI Research, LG’s unit that specializes in artificial intelligence (AI).
According to The Korea Economic Daily, ambient computing is a technology that offers an intelligent solution that allows AI to discern and deduce the client's situation and condition and then suggest a specific task to be performed without any intervention from the user. It may also issue a related alert after the AI’s assessment and makes its judgment.
"We plan to expand our incorporation of AI into other sectors like digital health care, extended reality and the metaverse as well as core businesses such as home appliances, TVs, electric vehicles and information technology," a source from LG Electronics stated.
In any case, it will be LG AI Research that will be establishing the Ambient Computing, and the target date for its launch is within this year. The aim of this technology is to lead a hyper-connected world.
Finally, Pulse News reported that LG AI Research is also planning to dedicate more time to advancing AI original technology, including a multi-modal interface that uses different sensors, user recognition based on voice, videos, and images, and logic inference via sensibility conversation and context.
The company will also continue to develop other core technology in other business industries. It will work on the metaverse, digital healthcare, and more. For the advancement in AI technology, LG Electronics also hired Kim Jeong Hee, an AI expert, to become LG AI Research’s chief executive officer.
