LG CNS has rebranded its artificial intelligence (AI) based English education app that can predict TOEIC and OPIC test scores. The information technology subsidiary of the LG Group is now calling the said language learning app "Buttertime."
LG CNS revealed the name change on Monday, Nov. 28, and said that the rebranding was carried out to attract more users. Prior to the change, the AI learning app's name was "Mission English", which helps users make their English pronunciation better.
As per The Korea Times, Buttertime allows people to study English anytime and anywhere. It will teach them how to converse and pronounce plus provide thousands of English sentences to learners in the AI program. LG CNS said that users can also customize the AI English education app according to their level and skills.
"Its users can use 741 English conversation lessons for free, offer 371 sentences consisting of content that can be used in daily life and travel, such as ordering food at restaurants, explaining symptoms at the hospital, and exchanging money when travelling," LG CNS' spokesperson said in a statement.
Moreover, another great feature of Buttertime is its AI-based English tutoring service that can assist with English test preparation for the International Communication (TOEIC) exam and OPIC or Oral Proficiency Interview-Computer. It was said that this tutoring service is actually being used by about 170 companies today.
"Many companies including LG Group's affiliates as well as the distribution, finance and construction sectors are using the AI tutor service to train their employees' English skills," the company added regarding its AI English education app. "The service has been approved by the Korea Association of Teachers of English (KATE) for the first time among domestic English learning services."
Korea's AI Times reported that the company's goal for its Buttertime AI app is to reinforce English conversation learning content to users. Once the Buttertime app is downloaded, users will gain access to useful English conversation content for free and many of them can especially help when travelling, dining in restaurants, or visiting medical facilities where English is the main language.
