AEG will renovate Crypto.com Arena and the surrounding Xbox Plaza at a nine-figure cost.
The redevelopment project, expected to be finalized by Autumn 2024, will provide multiple improvements ahead of the 2022/23 National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Hockey League (NHL) seasons.
The arena, which is home to the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, and the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, will remain open throughout all phases of the renovation.
A new City View Terrace and a multi-level Tunnel Club will be constructed.
Two new LED screens will be installed in the upper and lower bowl seating areas, and the main concourse area will also be upgraded.
The premium and suite level entrances, concourses throughout the venue, and team locker rooms at the Crypto.com Arena will all be renovated.
AEG has tasked PCL Construction with the brief as general contractor.
The sports and entertainment venue, formerly known as the Staples Center, was renamed last November as part of a 20-year, reported US$700 million agreement with the cryptocurrency exchange firm.
AEG president and CEO Dan Beckerman stated that the investment in these renovations demonstrates AEG, the Lakers, and the Kings' ongoing commitment to providing the best experiences for all of our fans, partners, artists, and teams.
