Kellogg’s Eggo frozen waffle brand is offering something new for the holidays, and the consumers may be surprised by its choice of product to release for the festive season.
Eggo is launching a boozy holiday drink which was named Kellogg’s Eggo Nog. Most Americans only know the brand for its fast and easy-to-serve breakfast waffles, and for the upcoming holidays, it has decided to offer an Eggo Nog with a twist since it is actually an alcoholic drink.
For this cream liqueur, Kellogg’s partnered with Sugarlands Distilling Company based in Gatlinburg, Tennesse. The Battle Creek, Michigan-headquartered food manufacturing company is bringing its very first Eggo-inspired product to adult customers through the collaboration, and it hopes the Eggo Nog liqueur will now become part of the holiday season every year.
As per Kool 108 FM, the new Kellogg’s Eggo Nog is 40 proof, so its alcohol content is 20%. The new alcoholic drink product’s full name is "Eggo Nog Appalachian Sippin' Cream," and although it was already revealed, it is not yet out on the market.
Kellogg’s said the new liqueur would arrive soon in time for the holidays, and it will be available until the season is over. It will be distributed to retail stores across the United States.
The company shared it came up with the idea of producing an Eggo alcoholic drink after finding out that many parents eat Eggo Waffles in the evening when their kids are already sleeping. Since the idea of alcoholic waffles sounded interesting, the management gave its approval for the new item.
The rum-based cream liqueur also has nutmeg and cinnamon flavors since it is a product based on Eggo Waffle, after all. It is also light, unlike the usual thick eggnog beverage, and it can be served on the rocks. It is also best for holiday cocktails or used as a creamer for coffee at night.
"The holidays are exhausting for parents – from extra family responsibilities to the pressure of making the holidays perfect, parents rarely have any downtime for themselves," Eggo’s managing director, Joe Beauprez, said in a press release.
The director added, "We created Eggo Nog to give parents a delicious way to indulge in some well-deserved evening ‘me’ time. Paired perfectly with our Eggo Thick & Fluffy Waffles – maybe even topped with a dollop of ice cream – Eggo Nog is sure to help parents L'Eggo during one of the busiest times of the year."
