The creators and producers of “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” have been mum about their plans for its anime adaptation. This means that months after the first 12 episodes aired, fans are still clueless whether or not “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” season 2 will ever be released.
In the TV series industry, estimating the future of a show is quite easier because TV ratings and viewership numbers are readily available. However, for anime like the return of “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” season 2, it can be tricky because producers also have to consider its international fanbase that watches the shows in various streaming channels. Meanwhile, there is one more way to predict whether “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” season 2 is getting renewed, and that is its Blu-ray disc sales.
‘Kaguya-Sama: Love is War’ season 2 renewal highly possible
It has been the tradition in the anime industry to release episodes in multiple volumes of Blu-ray discs. For “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” season 1, five volumes have been released while the last one becomes available on Aug. 28, with each having two episodes. So far, the sales records for the first four volumes spark hope for the “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” season 2 renewal.
Fans admitted that the sales are not as high as other much more popular series like “Attack on Titan” or “Sword Art Online: Alicization.” But the sales records that this series has seen so far might be enough to convince producers that “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” season 2 deserves to be made.
There have been four volumes of home media copies released separately last March 27, April 24, May 29, June 26, and July 24 while the last one will be out by Aug. 28. Within the first week release of volumes 1, 2, 3, and 4, they each reportedly sold 4,091, 4,174, 3,832, 3,597 copies respectively. Avid anime fans know that these numbers could be enough for “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” season 2 to be renewed.
‘Kaguya-Sama: Love is War’ season 2 plot: What to expect
Kaguya and Miyuki are some of the brightest students in their high school, and they are in love with each other. However, they refuse to be the “loser” in this love story by being the first person to confess. Through the first 12 episodes, fans have seen them become closer while also trying their hardest not to declare their love for the other person. It is this kind of cat-and-mouse chase between the main protagonists is what fans can expect from “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War” season 2.
