“Kabukichou Sherlock” episode 12 could be considered as the climax of the series as it is the time when the detectives finally figured out who Jack the Ripper is. The serial killer has been terrorizing the region with his senseless killings, and finally, it is over.
Alex Moran’s flashback
The previous chapter showed the flashback of the night when Alex Moran was murdered. Her death came just minutes after James visits her in her room, and he helped her sneaked out of their house so she can meet up with her friends. Moriarty was supposed to come with her, but their father suddenly knocked at the door.
To avoid being caught, Moriarty told his twin to go ahead and just meet him at the end of the tunnel, but when he was finally able to come, he found her dead, and there are signs that Jack the Ripper did it. He promised to make the killer pay.
Jack the Ripper’s identity reveal
Kyogoku Fuyuto was initially thought to be Jack the Ripper, but they found peyote, a poison, in his system, and this led them to the discovery that he is being controlled by someone else who is the real Jack the Ripper. In the end, everyone was shocked when it turned out to be Maki, Kyogoku’s lover. Needless to say, she is not a girl but pretending to be one.
James heard his story on why he killed his twin. He learned that the real target was him and not Alex, but since she disguised as a boy on that fateful night, his twin sister had to die. The more shocking revelation is that it was their father who ordered him killed. James could not bear to hear how Jack killed Alex, so he slit his throat in the end.
Moriarty’s predicted transformation
“Kabukichou Sherlock” episode 12 may reveal an unfortunate twist as Moriarty is predicted to go over to the dark side, and this happened as he will now try to go against his father for what he did to his twin sister. He will do whatever it takes to bring down his father, and this will push him to commit many crimes that, in the long run, he will be Sherlock’s next target.
James Moriarty’s character in the original “Sherlock” is a villain; thus, this could be the point where he will become an enemy rather than an ally of the detectives. This is the sad reality of what James might become later on. Many fans are also convinced that this theory is correct, as they said so via the discussion on Reddit.
“Kabukichou Sherlock” episode 12 is airing on Dec. 27 at 01:55 p.m. as per TV Maze.
