“Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress” is an anime property that not as many people have likely heard of compared to the hugely popular “Attack on Titan,” but this hasn’t stopped the comparisons. Many have basically written off this property as nothing more than an attempt to cash in on the hype built by the global phenomenon. A movie based on the anime is set to release next year and a new trailer was recently released for viewers to check out.
The teaser clip for the “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress” movie showcases beautiful artwork by Yasuyuki Ebara who is the animation character designer and chief animation director of the series. The movie is being produced by WIT Studio and is actually a sequel to the anime’s first season. The footage mostly focuses on Mumei and how she feels at this point in the story.
Coming out in the Spring of 2019, the “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress” movie is titled “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: The Battle of Unato” (“Koutetsujou no Kabaneri: Unato Kessen”). The movie will be coming out in Japan, but there is no word on whether a western theatrical release is on the table.
Movie tickets will also come in two forms Manga.Tokyo notes, with one type coming with a set of five character cards. These will be provided in random and will cost ¥1,500. The other set of tickets for the “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress” movie will cost ¥3,000 and will come with four clear files along with the character cards. Unfortunately, these can only be obtained from the Noitamina Shop.
Those who like the premise of “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress” can watch out for the movie’s release next year. As OtakuKart also notes, it’s unfair to call this property an “Attack on Titan” rip-off and anime viewers might want to give it a chance.
