KT Corp will provide in-car infotainment services for Renault Samsung Motors Corp. vehicles to be released this year.
The in-car infotainment service, such as weather reports and music or podcast streaming, will be provided through an internal communications device to be installed in new vehicles by Renault SA's South Korean unit.
With the new service, drivers can do away with connecting their smartphones for infotainment services through applications such as Apple's CarPlay or Android Auto.
Similar services may also be provided to Renault Samsung's XM3, a small-sized SUV.
KT Corp is also developing an AI-based auto assistant for Renault Samsung vehicles.
The assistant will recommend destinations and monitor the vehicle's maintenance conditions.
KT's local rival SK Telecom will supply its car infotainment system to Volvo Cars Korea Co.
