‘Justice League’ recently cast Julian Lewis Jones in a secret role. It was suggested that he may play one of the upcoming film’s antagonists. Meanwhile, it was also speculated that Charles Dance of ‘Game of Thrones’ fame has been eyed to play the primary villain Steppenwolf.
According to Wales Online, Jones has landed a coveted spot on Zack Snyder’s upcoming DC superhero team-up film but his role remains a mystery. Jones teased, “I’m not allowed to say yet what part I play but let’s just say I’ve a role in what will likely be the most expensive film ever made… It was filmed at Warner Brother’s studio at Leavesden as well as at various locations around the UK and Iceland.”
He added, “Directed by Zack Snyder it stars Ben Affleck, Jeremy Irons and host of A-list actors. I’m just happy to have been involved and I’m looking forward to the movie’s release which will be next year."
The 48-year old Welsh actor worked on several British television shows including ITV’s family drama ‘Where The Heart Is’ and S4C’s Welsh drama ‘Caerdydd’. He is also best known for his role as the head of Nelson Mandela’s security team on Clint Eastwood’s 2009 sports-drama biographical film ‘Invictus’, which also starred Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon. Although Jones’ role remains unconfirmed, it was heavily speculated that he may be playing one of the film’s villains.
Meanwhile, Charles Dance of ‘Game of Thrones’ fame is also rumored to join the new film as the primary supervillain Steppenwolf. According to Movie Web, the rumor began after a Twitter account by the name of Wayne Enterprises tweeted about Warner Bros. wanting Dance for the role. It was previously revealed that the alien Steppenwolf will be the film’s latest main villain.
The 69-year old English actor, screenwriter and film director is best known for his portrayal of the cunning Lannister patriarch Tywin on HBO’s fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones’. He also worked on several full feature films including 1992’s ‘Alien 3’, 2011’s ‘Ironclad’, 2012’s ‘Undeworld: Awakening’, 2014’s ‘Dracula Untold’, 2014’s ‘The Imitation Game’, and 2015’s ‘Victor Frankenstein’.
‘Justice League’ is an upcoming action-adventure and fantasy film scheduled to be released on November 17, 2017. It is directed by Zack Snyder and written for the big screen by Chris Terrio. It is produced under DC Comics, DC Entertainment, Warner Bros., Dune Entertainment (as RatPac-Dune Entertainment LLC), and Lensbern Productions.
