It was announced recently that Jungkook of BTS and Blackpink’s Lisa are nominated together for an award in Mexico’s version of Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards. This kind of recognition is typically a good thing, but why are fans rallying on Twitter against it?
The annual Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards is being held in various countries and is one of the biggest events in pop culture, especially since it caters to children and the young adult audience. The awards show’s version in Mexico has recently unveiled its list of nominees, and in the Favorite Ship category, Jungkook of BTS and Blackpink’s Lisa are paired together.

They are up against seven other pairs with some of them being real-life couple such as “Riverdale” stars Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse. To make the nominations official, Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards Mexico also came up with ship names for each pair. For Jungkook and Lisa, it is LisKook.
BTS and Blackpink are probably some of the most popular K-Pop bands even outside Asia at this point. So it is not a surprise that these groups or some of their members are being recognized in some of the most popular awards shows in various continents. But why are some fans not on board with Jungkook’s latest nomination?
For one, fans are questioning KCA Mexico’s basis for pairing up Jungkook and Lisa. Some are arguing that the two K-Pop stars have not even collaborated on any music projects before and even referred to the team-up as “cringy.” Others fans are also strongly adamant that the two are not dating, so they deem the nomination to be “disrespectful” to their idols — and K-Pop fans can be really passionate about their favorite stars.

Jungkook and Lisa have yet to comment on their KCA Mexico nomination. But many fans have already been demanding for the nomination to be taken down. And if that will not work, other followers are already calling on other K-Pop fans to not vote for LisKook.
