There are a lot of boxers itching to get in the ring with Manny Pacquiao as the match would mean a huge payday for anyone who gets signed. As of this writing, the boxing legend has yet to announce who he’s going to fight next and it’s not expected he’ll make the reveal soon.

But there has been no shortage of fighters that have been vocal in throwing their names in the Manny Pacquiao narrative. Errol Spence Jr, Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman, and Jeff Horn are the boxers that have put themselves forward.

And now, another fighter has inserted himself in the discussion. It’s none other than Joshua Clottey, Boxing247 reported.

Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey’s previous fight

Clottey has previously fought Manny Pacquiao nine years ago, with the match heavily favoring the Filipino slugger. The fight drew massive criticism from fans and analysts alike due to the Ghana native’s unremarkable performance.

In fact, the bout was so one-sided that it ended with Manny Pacquiao unleashing a monstrous 1,231 punches, while Clottey only dished out 399. So it came as a surprise when the 41-year-old threw himself at the discussion what with most people considering the previous fight to be a massive let down.

Clottey says he won’t be charging money for the Manny Pacquiao match

Clottey himself admits that his fight with Manny Pacquiao was piss poor that’s why he’s asking for the rematch to redeem his previous performance. He even said that if he fights poorly again, he won’t be charging any money for the match.

“If I get in the ring and the performance is not good, then no pay, but if the performance is good, I will charge for the match. I want that fight so badly just to redeem my image but that opportunity is not available,” Clottey said. So is there a possibility that Manny Pacquiao would agree to a rematch?

Unfortunately, it’s unlikely to happen. Manny Pacquiao’s camp has already denied Horn and Thurman the rematch they’ve been asking, and there’s a huge possibility that Clottey’s offer will get a similar treatment.

Right now, the most likely candidate is Danny Garcia or Mikey Garcia although this isn’t set in stone either. It’s expected that Manny Pacquiao will reveal his next opponent after Spence and Shawn Porter collide on Sept. 28.

The fact of the matter is Clottey doesn’t have the reputation anymore to get himself in the ring with the fighting senator. Add the fact that his previous fight with Manny Pacquiao is considered a snooze-fest and the chances dive down further. The match was so boring that one of its highlights was Pacquiao unleashing a double-punch that briefly disrupted the fight.
