Japanese electronics conglomerate Panasonic is one among five companies that are contributing to Iroha project that is attached to Hyperledger blockchain initiative, CoinDesk reported.
This marks Panasonic’s first move into the blockchain space. The other companies that have entered into the Iroha project include Indetail, Intec, CAC and NTT Data. Among them, NTT Data is one of the founding members of Hyperledger blockchain project.
Hyperledger added distributed ledger project, Iroha into its incubation status, last November. Iroha was originally developed by Soramitsu, a member of Hyperledger, and aims to provide a growth environment where C++, web and mobile app developers can contribute to the Hyperledger Project.
According to Soramitsu, those firms that are involved in the Iroha project will all put forward development time and resources. “This means they will work to develop code to create Hyperledger Iroha, contributing it to the open-source community,” it added.
Hyperledger is a collaborative cross-industry effort created to advance blockchain technology and is a trademark of Linux Foundation. Along with Iroha, Hyperledger supports other blockchain projects including Sawtooth Lake, Fabric and Cello.
