“Jane the Virgin” Season 5 is going to be the final installment for the satire/romantic comedy series. While fans are left disappointed that their favorite show is coming to a close, executive producer Brad Silberling said that it’s going to make sense for audiences once they see the full set of the final season, Pop Buzz reported.
"Yes, we are heading into the final season. It is a wonderful final season of the show…this will only make real sense when you have seen the content of the fifth season of the show. It is exactly as it was laid out,” Silberling said. There are a lot of things that need to be addressed in “Jane the Virgin” Season 5, especially how the previous installment ended.
The end of season 4 saw a major plot twist that revealed Jane’s (Gina Rodriguez) deceased husband, Michael (Brett Dier,) is actually alive. This development is quite jaw-dropping since the revelation was dropped after years have passed in the show’s timeline. “Jane the Virgin” Season 5 is set to clear things up once it airs next year, although showrunners are keeping their lips tight on how they’re going to handle the plot moving forward.
Theories regarding Michael’s miraculous return have already been penned by several hardcore fans in online forums. As the comedy satire is inspired by telenovelas and the tropes governing them, it’s safe to assume that these tropes will be used to explain Michael’s state. For starters, “Jane the Virgin” Season 5 can take the route of the classic telenovela amnesia plot twist.
Perhaps Michael managed to survive the gunshot wound and suffered memory loss following the incident. Or maybe he faked his own death in order to finish a case he was involved in. After all, Michael was quite the policeman in his heyday and perhaps someone at the precinct asked for his help to solve a huge case. Whatever the reason is, Jane’s dead husband is alive and is now ready to return to her life in “Jane the Virgin” Season 5.
However, Jane is already involved with Rafael (Justin Baldoni). Does Michael still have room for Jane’s heart, or does it fully belong to Rafael now that she has seemingly moved on from her grief? “Jane the Virgin” Season 5 will have all the answer once it airs. Unfortunately, that won’t be anytime soon as its mother network said the comedy satire will return sometime in 2019.
