Jamie Dornan's “Fifty Shades” leading lady, Dakota Johnson, recently came out with a personal opinion that may shock fans. While the “Fifty Shades” trilogy ended with the successful release for “Fifty Shades Freed” earlier this year, it seems only the franchise's fans are disappointed about the trilogy's conclusion.
Dakota Johnson, in an interview with The Times, mentions that she initially signed on to do “Fifty Shades of Grey” with Jamie Dornan backed with the knowledge that the movie would be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. Unfortunately for Dakota Johnson, Taylor-Johnson ran into a conflict with “Fifty Shades” creator E.L. James, which led to her being replaced by James Foley.
Dakota Johnson also mentions that doing three films for the “Fifty Shades” franchise had gotten “tedious” due to the majority of the content being focused on the gratuitous sex scenes between Johnson's Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan's Christian Grey. Johnson felt that the production was pushed to try to make each sex scene more interesting than the last due to the sheer amount of scenes that had to be featured in the movies.
While Dakota Johnson may be tired of the role she had to play in E.L. James's torrid tale, the 29-year-old actress does not regret being part of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” trilogy of movies. Jamie Dornan's co-star mentions that her time on set was a challenge that she was not ashamed of and helped her understand her own personal resilience.
Both Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan have moved on from their iconic roles as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey since the last movie's release. Johnson recently starred in the remake of Italian horror film “Suspiria” while Jamie Dornan stars alongside Jamie Foxx and Taron Egerton in the upcoming Leonardo DiCaprio-produced “Robin Hood.”
It seems that fans will not be seeing any “Fifty Shades” installments featuring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan any time soon. While the couple had great chemistry on screen, neither of them looks interested in reprising their role.
