As the elections near and Americans are already casting their votes between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, an idea has floated around Republican circles of Trump’s children running for office. A new poll has revealed that the US voters say otherwise on whether or not Ivanka Trump could or should run for the presidency.
A poll by The Independent asked US Voters about whether or not Ivanka or Donald Trump Jr. should run for president by 2024. The poll was answered by 1,000 Americans between October 26 to October 28. The results found that 61 percent of voters would not welcome the idea of any of Trump’s children to run for office. On the other end of the spectrum, only 16 percent of the voters saw that Trump’s eldest son could have the potential in pursuing a career in politics. Among Trump supporters, 35 percent agreed that Trump Jr. could run for office.
As for Ivanka, only 31 percent of supporters agreed on her taking on the job. 36 percent of those who took part in the poll all said that Ivanka should not pursue a career in politics. Both children have been active on their father’s campaign trail both in the 2016 elections and this year as he seeks reelection. Ivanka and Don Jr. have acted as campaign surrogates even as Ms. Trump also serves as a White House adviser to her father.
Nevertheless, some still believe that Don Jr. should still pursue a career in politics even if his father loses the election on Tuesday, November 3. According to Rob Goldstone, a Trump PR, “If we see Trump getting voted out on November 3, I don’t think it’ll be the end of Trumpism.”
Previously, Ron Reagan, the youngest son of former president Ronald Reagan, blasted the Trumps, and said that his father would not be happy to see what the Republican party has become today. Ron said that while the Trump children are allowed to campaign for their father, Trump has used his presidency as a “grift.”
“When you cross the line is -- I hate to say it here, I don’t mean to be blunt, but we’ve got a bunch of grifters in the White House,” said Reagan. “They’re treating this as a grift.”
