Ivanka Trump criticized on Twitter when she suggested ways how to make social distancing enjoyable

With the rising cases of coronavirus infections in the U.S., the government is implementing measures to keep it in check. One of these is its recommendation for citizens to practice social distancing.

Senior White House advisor Ivanka Trump knows firsthand how challenging it is to implement self-quarantine and social distancing. Last week, she opted to work from home after Australian Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton, whom she met during his visit to Washington, tested positive for Covid-19.

Ivanka Trump continued to stay at home this week after Dr. Anthony Fauci recommended that Americans should practice social distancing to slow the pathogen’s spread. For those who might find it boring to stay at home all day long, Ivanka shared on social media one what she did while staying at home.

“Staying home today w/ kids?” Ivanka posted on Twitter while uploading a photo showing her and her kids set up a tent in their living room. “Plan living room camp out!”

“Throw a bedsheet over some taped together brooms,” the White House adviser added. “Plan a menu & ‘pack’ sandwiches, salads (S’mores optional) A fun activity that also brings family together for a meal! Share your ideas & use the hashtag #TogetherApart.”

There is no doubt the Ivanka Trump meant well when she posted on social media. However, many were quick to criticize her for “not taking into account her financial advantages,” Independent reported.

“Congratulations on being rich & being married to a guy actually profiting off this catastrophe,” Twitter user @lifesafeast wrote on the site. “There are actually people suffering. Without enough food. Without nannies or cooks or cleaning people to help with the kids. Who are forced to work or risk losing their job/business.”

Others used it as an opportunity to criticize President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, where children are sometimes separated from their parents. “Here’s an idea: have your dad reunite separated kids and their families, and allow them to stay or go (their choice) while waiting for their asylum requests to be processed? Detainee shelters are not like camp. #TogetherApart,” Twitter user @spdustin wrote.

But not everyone was critical of Ivanka’s tweet. “So many don't realize how amazing you really are. You're doing a good job keeping everyone calm. We appreciate your fam,” Twitter user @AppalachianMum wrote.

“Thank you Ivanka for your efforts in trying to cheer up American families during this great crisis!” user @KevinMo00174581 wrote. “We appreciate you and your heart more than you know! Keep it up and please ignore the far left and their negative comments! God bless!”
