The Nintendo Switch is still in an upswing and the arrival of Microsoft’s Minecraft on the console hybrid is bound to make it more popular to the younger generation. Now, while it only makes sense to put one of the video game industry’s most prolific titles in the massively popular console, many are saying that the sandbox building simulation actually works and looks its best on the Switch.
Minecraft has found a home in several platforms over the years, starting with the PC before moving on to mobile and consoles. With the Switch version, however, players benefit from a system that offers a good balance with everything that they could ask for. There’s the matter of portability, as Times points out in its review, coupled with the console’s decent specs.
It basically combines everything that smartphones, tablets, PCs, and both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can offer in just one console. Thanks to the modest graphical requirements, the Switch’s mid-range GPU can generate a gorgeous building environment without a problem. What’s more, if players want to take it on the go, they just need to take it off its dock and continue playing without interruption.
The Switch, for all its hardware limitations, is a hot commodity right now. It’s popular with gamers of all ages and is selling so fast it’s literally not available in a lot of stores for the moment. Pairing the console with the single best-selling game in the market makes a lot of sense and thanks to the Switch’s superior controls, Minecraft is a lot easier to use as a portable unit.
As a result of this almost perfect combination of factors, a deluge of positive feedback from reviewers and players is flooding in. Comments like those from Kotaku, which notes how the Switch version of Minecraft makes it interesting again, are everywhere. It’s safe to say that Nintendo and Microsoft just produced the best version of Minecraft yet.
