DENVER, Dec. 08, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hosting.com, a leader in cloud computing and database services since 1997, has successfully completed an outside independent audit of data security compliance and control processes required under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
The formal third-party HIPAA compliance assessment, rare in the cloud computing industry, gives Hosting.com a competitive advantage as the firm positions itself to grow its client base in the healthcare industry, according to Trent Baker, Compliance Manager at Denver-based Hosting.com.
“The importance of a laser-focus on absolute data security is a baseline requirement of doing business in the healthcare field,” said Baker. “Achieving HIPAA compliance is clear evidence that we truly understand the security concerns of an industry required by law to protect critical consumer data and the privacy of millions of Americans.”
Hosting.com’s examination leading to compliance with HIPAA data security standards was administered by the professional audit staff at 360 Advanced, a national Qualified Security Assessor and Certified Public Accountant firm based in Tampa, FL.
As clear evidence of its dedication to data security, Hosting.com also has historically achieved compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) and the Service Organization Controls (SOC or SAS 70) standards.
Baker explained that because of Hosting.com’s levels of expertise in data security process controls, the firm can offer its clients Hosting Compliance as a Service (HCAAS). In that process, Hosting.com’s compliance experts work with client auditors to help clients achieve their own levels of compliance in PCI, SOC and HIPAA. “That is very unique in the cloud industry and a major differentiator for us,” said Baker.
Hosting.com is the only cloud services provider offering a Business Associate Agreement (BAA), a process in which Hosting.com stands by and assists healthcare clients that may be undergoing an audit under HIPAA security rules.
