‘High School Musical 4’ Movie: New Cast, Plot and Setting; Here’s What to Expect in the Film Sequel

High School Musical

“High School Musical 4” is already in the works, so it is really happening. Fans have been waiting for years, so this is good news. The follow-up to the third installment is long overdue, and finally, Disney is on the move to give what the fans want.

Plot

“High School Musical 4” will be different from the previous films as it will feature a new plot. While it will still follow the story of high school students from the East High and West High, the story will show new talents, sports, and different kind of rivalry. It will pick up 15 years after the first movie was released so there will be a wide generation gap.

Cast

“High School Musical 4” will return with new cast lineup. The viewers may never see Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens in this sequel, but a new breed of talents are expected to present an amazing performance, besides, each one was handpicked by Disney and they are Joshua Bassett (Ricky), Olivia Rodrigo (Nini), Kate Reinders (Miss Jenn), Sofia Wylie (Gina) Matt Cornett (E.J.), Dara Renee' (Kourtney), Julia Lester (Ashlyn), Frankie A. Rodriguez (Carlos), Larry Saperstein (Big Red) and Mark St. Cyr (Mr. Mazzara).

"We are truly excited about this extremely talented cast and the fresh and contemporary take on this globally beloved franchise,” TV Insider quoted Agnes Chu, Disney Plus’ senior vice president of content as saying. "From the music and dance, to the characters and hilarious meta references, there is something here for fans of the originals, as well as people who are new to East High.”

Setting

The official news site of North Penn Highschool published an article about the filming of “High School Musical 4” on their home ground. The school officials expressed their excitement after being chosen as the filming site, saying that this is a big opportunity for the school.

“This is so exciting for NPHS and the district! Mr. Pete Nicholson, the school principal said. “We have a long and distinguished tradition in the arts and drama and now, to have the honor of forever being connected to a musical about high school and it’s just amazing.”

Meanwhile, “High School Musical 4” has no release date yet but filming will begin in 2020. Disney will also sign up extras from NPHS, and the students can enlist at the start of the school year 2019-2020.
