Steve McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) just cannot seem to get a break in “Hawaii Five-0” season 9. With the season 9 pilot leaving McGarrett with a few more friends dead and exposing a former lover as a traitor to colleagues and the country, fans of the grizzled officer may be wondering if McGarrett can continue taking a beating emotionally and psychologically.
According to TV Line, “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 will be graced by the guest-star presence of “CSI: New York's” Eddie Cahill in the installment's sixth episode. “Hawaii Five-0” showrunner Peter M. Lenkov did some early work with “CSI: New York,” which could explain the guest appearance of the old CBS show's star.
For “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 episode 6, Eddie Cahill will be playing McGarrett's old military buddy, Carson. According to the teaser, Carson is a part of Steve McGarrett's past that will resurface due to an investigation related to his death. A pilot, Carson supposedly died in a mysterious plane crash under the claim that he was kidnapping a child. It seems that Carson will be visiting Steve McGarrett in flashbacks and, potentially, dreams.
The official claim that Carson may have been committing a crime as he made his escape could potentially be overturned by McGarrett as he continues the investigation that could bring shed light on his friend's death. Hopefully, the vindication of Carson's name can bring some kind of peace to Steve McGarrett in “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 considering all the hardships that he has already gone through in the installment's first few episodes.
Fans of the show who are also fans of “CSI: New York” can look forward to seeing Eddie Cahill's guest starring role in “Hawaii Five-0” season 9's sixth episode when it airs on Nov. 2.
