Newsweek recently reported that “Hawaii Five-0” season 9's upcoming premiere episode will feature the “Mistresses” star Rochelle Aytes. Aytes will be playing a recurring role, as Greer, a former CIA operative who had a romantic fling with Steve McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin).
The big reveal gets more exciting for fans when the casting announcement also mentions that Greer will be a recurring villain for the Five-0. “Hawaii Five-0” showrunner Peter M. Lenkov mentions that Greer will “be a big bad in the first couple of episodes.” Fans can now speculate whether Aytes will simply have a short run with the Hawaiian-themed police procedural, or she will eventually become an asset that the Five-0 can rely on.
The introduction of Aytes' Greer will be great for fans rooting for one of the McGarrett-Williams duo getting a chance to fall back in love again. While both Steve McGarrett and Danny Williams (Scott Caan) occasionally show their love lives on screen, none of their previous love interests have played a significant role for the series up until Greer's coming introduction. Still, there is a possibility that Rochelle Aytes' role as Greer will be a short-lived one.
Fans will remember that the “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 premiere episode will be celebrating the show's 50th anniversary by remaking the original show's first pilot, “Cocoon.”

The original pilot featured a known associate of the original McGarrett turning up dead on the beach, which led Steve to a homicide hunt. Since Greer has already been teased as being a big bad for season 9 by Lenkov, fans can potentially expect Greer to be the murdered associate whose actions will cause the Five-0 grief throughout the next episodes even after her death, or she could be connected to the death of another of McGarrett's associates. Either way, it would break McGarrett's heart if Greer dies, or does something unforgivable.
Any fan excited about all the spoilers being teased by the “Hawaii Five-0” cast and crew can look forward to season 9 airing its premiere episode on Sept. 28.
