“Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” is the upcoming mobile game by Niantic, the same studio that released “Pokemon: GO.” As of this writing, there’s still no news when the exact release date of the game, although hints are pointing that it may come out summer of 2019, GameRant reported.
What’s more, “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” is already available in New Zealand as Niantic soft-launched the game in the region last week. Android and iOS users have already started their journey in the wizarding world, with the studio monitoring the feedback of gamers to iron out bugs in the game, Gamespot reported.
A gameplay video for “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” has also surfaced on the web detailing the various mechanics that players should expect. So far, the game looks unimpressive with the looped music the most jarring elements found within the gameplay clip.
Of course, Niantic already said that everything that’s been unveiled so far is still subject for change. The studio is still polishing “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” so it’ll look more immersive when it goes live. The combat of the game differs greatly from “Pokemon: GO” as gamers are more involved with the mechanics.
The system is a turn-based time-limited encounter. Players will have to trace symbols on their screen to attack and defend against each fight. And in true Harry Potter fashion, spells and potions will be involved during combat. Multiplayer missions are also available in “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite,” with the party reaching up to five players to deal with higher difficulty situations.
Unsurprisingly, the upcoming mobile game will also feature heavy storylines involving iconic characters such as Harry, Ron, Hermione, Snape, McGonagall, and of course, Dumbledore. It’s still unclear whether more of these prominent characters will make their way in “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.” The gist of the game is that you’ll be playing as a recruited member of Statute of Secrecy Task Force assigned to deal with magical outbreaks and ensure the secrecy of the wizarding world is not exposed to Muggles.
