“Halo: Infinite” has been developed to sideline Agent Locke and heavily feature Microsoft’s most iconic character, Master Chief. The sixth installment is going to be the company’s most ambitious yet as evidenced by the span of time developers are giving to polish the game, Daily Star reported.
In the past, the Halo franchise typically had a one-and-a-half-year gap in developing the game. But since "Halo 5" came out on Oct. 27, 2015, it’s now nearing three years and “Halo: Infinite” has not yet been released.
While fans have been worried that there might be some complications going behind the scenes, their apprehension was doused when the trailer for “Halo: Infinite” dropped during E3 2018. The sneak peek video got fans roaring when they saw it, even though it didn’t actually give much about the upcoming game.
The trailer featured game engine demonstration and it was everything fans had been hoping for and more. The graphics of “Halo: Infinite” alone had a lot of influence on the positive feedback as fans praised Microsoft and 343 Industries for bringing back the original design of the game.
Fans also lost their mind over a social media post which showed three iconic personalities involved in the franchise and who are also heavily associated with “Halo: Infinite.” The post featured Marty O’Donnell, Jen Taylor, and Joseph Staten.
O’Donnell is the composer of the original "Halo" games and "Halo Reach", Taylor the writer of the franchise, and Staten the voice of Cortana. For longtime fans, seeing the trio in a single image is a grand reunion that is poised to produce stunning results. And the fact that all three are involved in the development of “Halo: Infinite” is a telltale sign that the game is going to create quite the wave when it’s finally released.
When that will be, however, is still up for debate. While some argued that “Halo: Infinite” will be dropping later this year, what’s most likely to happen is the developers are going to push back the date to 2019.
It’s possible that an early 2019 release is on the table similar to what Sony did with “God of War” and “Horizon Zero Dawn.” But that is unlikely as well. The safest bet is the second half of 2019 as developers are apt to delay their launch as unforeseen bugs and headaches could occur.
