Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are said to have decided to push back their wedding at a later date because there is a bit of issue on the “Hollaback Girl” singer’s side. It was said the latter has no choice but to follow his girlfriend’s wish because he wants their marriage to be smooth.
As per In Touch Weekly, Stefani and Shelton are planning to get married, however, they cannot do so yet because the former wants to walk down the aisle after her marriage to Gavin Rossdale is annulled first. She is sticking to her Catholic Church’s practice of not allowing people to tie the knot if their previous marriage is still valid in the church.
It was added that Gwen Stefani actually filed for an annulment already so that Blake Shelton will be recognized by the Catholic Church as her husband. But then again, the whole process will take at least a year, so their marriage is delayed until then. Miranda Lambert’s ex fully understands his GF’s position, so he is willing to wait according to a source.
“He is patient but would like to have a civil ceremony ahead of a religious ceremony, which is a big no-no in the Catholic Church, and Gwen’s religion has always been important to her,” the tipster said. “Once the annulment is granted, Gwen and Blake will immediately get married, but it is not going to be anytime soon.”
However, Gossip Cop states that it can confidently refute the claim Stefani and Shelton are delaying their wedding due to religious beliefs. The publication declared that the report is not true because, in the first place, this is not the first time that In Touch wrote about the couple’s wedding.
Previously, it published an article that falsely reported about Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s wedding in Oklahoma. It also stated Gwen is already pregnant, but in the end, after GC looked into it, they found that these were just fabricated stories thus the recent report is not to be trusted as well.
