“Guardians of the Galaxy 3” is set to have Quill (Chris Pratt) and the rest of his team launch into another gripping adventure, this time with the addition of two new members. The end of “Avengers: Endgame” saw Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Nebula (Kare Gillan) joining the merry band of cosmic misfits, with the latter trying to fit in with her new squad, Screen Rant reported.
While nothing has been confirmed about the plot of “Guardians of the Galaxy 3,” the story appears to be geared towards the finding of Gamora (Zoe Saldana). “Avengers: Infinity War” saw the character dying at the hands of Thanos (Josh Brolin) as she was sacrificed to exchange for the Soul Stone.
In “Avengers: Endgame,” Gamora was reunited with the rest of the heroes by having her 2014 version arrive in 2023 via time travel. It’s unclear what happened with the green-skinned extraterrestrial by the end of the movie as she suddenly vanished after the Mad Titan was finally defeated. “Guardians of the Galaxy 3” could have the team look for Gamora, especially since Quill and Nebula are torn that the character has been ripped from their lives.
Of course, there’s still tension between Quill and Thor regarding who is really the leader of the team, but this isn’t expected to turn south since it’ll likely be used to create hilarious exchanges between the two. As for when “Guardians of the Galaxy 3” could come out, it might hit theatres is 2021 or 2022 depending on how smoothly the production process goes.
The threequel was supposed to start filming this year, but that was before James Gunn was fired by Disney, only to have him return to helm the movie following a massive petition to bring the director back. As such, “Guardians of the Galaxy 3” has been slated for production in 2020, picking up from where Gunn and the rest of the cast and crew left off. Hopefully, no complication comes up during this time as audiences are quite eager to know how Thor and Nebula’s addition will affect the dynamic of the group.
