‘Grimm’ season 6’s episode 1, titled "Fugitive," is set to feature Renard ordering a lethal manhunt to kill Nick following the loft massacre in season 5’s finale. Sasha Roiz also revealed that his character is set to form a strong bond with his daughter Diana in the new episodes.
The synopsis episode 1 episode posted on TV Guide reads, “In the Season 6 premiere, a shoot-to-kill manhunt is ordered by Capt. Renard (Sasha Roiz), who's hell-bent on eliminating Nick (David Giuntoli) once and for all after the loft massacre.
Meanwhile, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) have mixed feelings about staying in Portland now that their family is expanding; and Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) deals with the side effects of the mysterious stick's healing power.”
It seems that Capt. Renard is adamant about eliminating Nick following the massacre in his loft. Season 5’s two-part finale kept the dramatic tension through fast-paced storytelling and featured Black Claw making a strategic move that sent Nick on a war path spiral and Renard’s mayoral win with the backing of Black Claw.
Roiz said during an interview with TV Line, “When we finished on Season 5, [Renard’s] really on top.” However, he admitted that things will change very quickly for his character by season 6’s episode 3 after running into some enemies along the way.
He added that Diana, Renard and Adalind’s (Claire Coffee) daughter, will play an integral part in his character’s life. He said, “There’s this beautiful paternal instinct that kicks in in Renard whenever she’s around… As the season progresses, it’s very imperative that he’s there for her, because she becomes the target of something possibly very dangerous… He has to step it up.”
Roiz admitted that Renard may have a hidden agenda for the father-daughter bonding. He said, “We’ll say he’s still Renard, so he sees the potential of ‘Maybe I lost all this, but I’ve got this little lady who is quite a powder keg, so possibly I can use that to my advantage,'” the actor says. “And he certainly does manipulate that a little bit. He’s still Renard, come on!”
‘Grimm’ season 6’s episode 1, titled "Fugitive," is scheduled to premiere on NBC on January 6, 2017. It was directed by Aaron Lipstadt and written by David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf. It will be followed by episode 2, titled "Trust Me Knot," scheduled for January 13.
