“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 15 has been playfully referred to as the "Season of Love." But as everyone knows, love isn’t always rainbows and butterflies. There will be storms and dark days, heartaches and goodbyes. And for the next installment of the crime drama, it will be exactly just that, Digital Spy reported.
One of the most anticipated characters who will be returning is Dr. Teddy Altman (Kim Raver), a cardiothoracic surgeon who left the show in season 8. However, Altman has been promoted as a series regular again on “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 15, which will undoubtedly complicate matters for the staff of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
It can be recalled that Altman was fired by Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) as Hunt didn’t want her to work in a place where her husband died. However, she returned to the hospital last season and revealed to a patient that she is, in fact, carrying the child of Hunt. “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 15 will address this complication and it’s unclear how the showrunners will handle the tension between the two colleagues.
McKidd, who will be directing some of the episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 15, teased that Hunt’s reunion with Altman will be an unhappy encounter. But the actor/director did say that it’s going to be a “fun” one.
And speaking of unhappy circumstances, Sarah Drew, who played April Kepner in the medical drama, recently shared how devastated she was when showrunners said she would not be returning for “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 15. Drew told Hollywood Reporter that after she found out, she went to her trailer and cried.
"It was in the afternoon and I went back to my trailer and I did my crying and called my people. A whole bunch of people came into my trailer to give me hugs and cry with me and tell me they were so sad I was leaving,” Drew said. She further shared that she was supposed to shadow McKidd in “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 15 hoping she would direct an episode but her hopes were shattered after receiving the news.
Krista Vernoff, co-showrunner and executive producer of the show, said that while it was a shame to part ways with Drew, the story has to move forward and that sometimes means saying goodbye to a character. For her part, Drew isn’t holding a grudge against anyone regarding the decision, saying that she’s blessed to have been a part of the show all these years. “Grey’s Anatomy Season 15” is scheduled to debut on Sept. 27.
