‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13’s episode 11, titled “Jukebox Hero,” is set to feature the beginnings of a Webber-Eliza showdown as Eliza goes through her first day at the hospital. Meanwhile, actress Jessica Capshaw weighed in on Arizona and Eliza’s relationship.
The brief synopsis for “Jukebox Hero” posted on ABC reads, “Richard (James Pickens Jr.) and the attendings set out to make Eliza's (Marika Dominczyk) first day at Grey Sloan a bumpy one. Meanwhile, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) tries to track down Alex (Justin Chambers).”
It seems that Eliza’s first day at the hospital won’t go along as smoothly as expected all thanks to Richard and the rest of the attending physicians. Eliza is a double-board certified surgeon and educational consultant hired by Dr. Catherine Avery (Debbie Allen) to revamp Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital’s surgical residency program. She was essentially brought in to replace Dr. Richard Webber as head of the intern program.
She didn’t mesh well with other doctors, specifically Richard, when she observed several surgeries and started giving tips on how to do their jobs. Eliza may have to work extra hard to cope with the difficulties of her first day at Grey Sloan, considering Richard and the other attendings’ intention of making it as miserable as they possibly can.
Despite this, things may be looking up for Eliza and Arizona’s (Jessica Capshaw) budding romance. Capshaw revealed more details on hers and Domincyzk’s on-screen relationship during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Capshaw said, “There’s something that I really, really love about a quasi or demi-forbidden relationship, and we have the makings of that. Arizona is in a tricky position, because here comes the first woman in a while that makes her feel a certain way, feel flirted with and excited and feel flirty back, but also sort of pisses her off.”
She continued, “All that stuff is made of a great TV or movie relationship, where you see them bickering but in a way that’s flirty and sexy as opposed to aggressive or mean. She has that, but at the same time, she feels a bit fettered by the fact that Richard is her wingman; that’s her friend… It’s hard for her to figure out whether or not she should allow herself to have this minute of flirty fun or if she should just completely say, “No, I’m sorry. You’re here to displace my friend, and I can’t have anything to do with you.”
Capshaw also revealed that Arizona initially tries to stay loyal to Richard by making Eliza’s first day at work a living hell.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13’s episode 11, titled “Jukebox Hero,” is scheduled to air on February 2, 2017 on ABC. It was directed by Kevin Rodney Sullivan and written by Zoanne Clack. It will be followed by episode 12, titled "None of Your Business," scheduled for February 9.
