The 25th anniversary of the racing simulation game series “Gran Turismo” is not until next month. But creator Kazunori Yamauchi announced that an update to celebrate the milestone would be released on “Gran Turismo 7” this week.
Yamauchi surprised fans with the announcement of the “Gran Turismo 7” update on his Twitter page. While the post did not contain any more details about the update, it follows the tradition of showing a teaser image with the silhouettes of cars included in the update. Only this time, fans can expect to see three cars coming to the game.
The full unveiling of the 25th-anniversary update should happen any moment now. But GTPlanet says the teaser image seemingly hints at the addition of the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth. It is regarded as one of the best racing cars of all time, so it has also been one of the most requested vehicles among “Gran Turismo 7” players. If accurate, this would be the first the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth will be featured in the series. The publication also speculates that the other silhouette hints at the addition of the BMW M2, which would also mark its debut in the franchise.
The other vehicle in the teaser is believed to be the Nissan Silvia S14, specifically the Aero model. Unlike the other two, this car has been regularly featured in the mainline series, so it was more of a surprise when it did not appear in the “Gran Turismo 7” roster. But it now appears that developer Polyphony Digital has been reserving it for this special update.
Considering that the upcoming update is more special as it relates to the franchise’s 25th anniversary, Polyphony Digital likely has more items to add to “Gran Turismo 7” this week. But it remains to be seen if the developer will grant fans’ wishes to see a new track added to the game.
The actual 25th anniversary of “Gran Turismo” will be in December. But releasing the update on “Gran Turismo 7” this week makes sense as it is coming out in time for the holiday.
