‘Gotham’ Season 3, Episode 8 Spoilers: “Blood Rush” – Barnes Goes Mad; Isabella’s Intentions Towards Nygma Remain a Mystery

‘Gotham’ season 3’s episode 8, entitled “Blood Rush”, will follow Barnes as he goes mad under the Mad Hatter’s influence. Meanwhile, Isabella’s intentions towards Ed Nygma remain a mystery.

The synopsis for episode 8 posted on Comicbook.com stated, “Barnes (Michael Chiklis) begins to feel the effects of a recent incident and begins to go mad. Meanwhile, Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) is out of his depth in his relationship with Isabella (guest star Chelsea Spack) and Carmine Falcone (guest star John Doman) throws Lee (Morena Baccarin) and Mario (guest star James Carpinello) an engagement party.”

It seems that the incorruptible captain of the Gotham City Police Department (GCPD) will have his time in the mad house in the incoming episode. In the previous episode, entitled “Red Queen”, Jervis Tetch a.k.a. Mad Hatter (Benedict Samuel) was finally apprehended but his detainment this may put him in a great position to manipulate Nathaniel Barnes, who has been infected with Alice’s blood.

Mad Hatter tells a seemingly confused Barnes in the promo, “Have you heard the voices? Voices from deep within you? Whispering. Finally, you’ll see the world as it really is.”

The captain may be a very noble and serious policeman but this doesn’t mean that he is spared of the Mad Hatter’s villainous ways. James’ (Ben McKenzie) return to the GCPD may be more timely than expected.

The promo featured a brief glimpse of Lee and Mario’s engagement party but one of the guests’ faces morphed into a terrifying image. It could be that this is one of Barnes’ hallucinations.

Meanwhile, Nygma’s relationship with Isabella may not be what it seems. In the promo, Nygma is seen shocked at his new girlfriend’s reflection in the mirror. He doesn’t look too happy to see her.

Her intentions remain a mystery at this point in the series. In the episode recap for episode 7 posted on Den of Geek, Nygma seemed happy enough in his new relationship with Isabella. This drove Oswald (Robin Lord Taylor) to tell Isabella about her new beau’s murderous past in his desperation. Isabella remained unscathed by the revelation, fueling rumors that she may be someone hired to lure Nygma away from Oswald.

‘Gotham’ season 3’s episode 8, entitled “Blood Rush”, is scheduled to premiere on Fox on November 7, 2016.
