The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have been the subjects of rumors for some months now. While Google has not confirmed anything about the upcoming devices yet, there are some speculations that have been commonly reported. One of the mobile devices is expected to adopt the notch design while both are likely to be launched in October.
It has been repeatedly reported that Google is finally adopting the notch design similar to the iPhone X. However, leaked bits of information are suggesting that this major change in appearance will only be applied to the Google Pixel 3 XL.
Noted leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, known as @OnLeaks on Twitter, shared some of the latest schematics and photo renders supposedly of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Google, naturally, has not confirmed any of these bits of information but Hemmerstoffer insisted in a follow-up tweet that the images were from factory CADs or the same “files used within the plants where the devices are built.”

Meanwhile, the leaked photos and 5K videos show that the Pixel 3 XL’s leaked notch design is much smaller than the one seen on the iPhone X. According to the same Hemmerstoffer update, the Pixel 3 XL’s notch occupies a width of 23.8mm on the device’s 6.2-inch screen. The notch is also reportedly designed to be 8.1mm in height.
Meanwhile, the Pixel 3 will not have the notch design but is also expected to sport some noticeable changes. The upcoming device is reported to have thinner bezels compared to earlier Pixel models. This could also mean that Google adopted the 18:9 aspect ratio for the Pixel 3’s 5.3-inch screen.
It would not be surprising if Google uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 on both the Pixel 3 and Pixel XL 3. However, the same leaked renders also suggest that both devices will not have dual-lens rear camera setups.
As for the release date, Google has not made any announcements yet and that is likely going to be the case for the next couple of months. Notably, however, Google launched the first and second Pixel series on the same date, Oct. 4. Whether or not Google retains that schedule for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL is still unknown.
If Google decides to switch things up, the upcoming devices could still be launched sometime in October. Since there are no reported major technical or production issues Google is facing with regards to making the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, October is the most likely month for Google to unveil these handsets.
