At this point, everybody already knows that there are free apps and there are paid apps on stores like Google Play and the Apple App Store. Sometimes, however, paid apps are available for free. Google just made it a lot easier to spot these free paid apps by creating a section called “Free App Of The Week.” There, customers can browse which apps that usually cost money are free for a limited period.
To be clear, free paid app deals have always been available in major stores like the App Store and Google Play, but they can be a little hard to find. Unless the users pay attention to particular apps and check if they are free every single day, getting them for free can be troublesome. By putting all of the free paid apps in a single place where users can just browse, Google just made things easier for consumers, Ubergizmo reports.
Accessing the section on the Play Store via web browsers or mobile apps is pretty easy. Customers really just have to go to the main page, scroll down a bit and the section is there. Users don’t need to be concerned if all they see are a few apps, however, as the section will simply point them to where the rest of the apps are located.
Showcasing just one or a few free apps is also a great way to both promote promising apps and to avoid dumping too many apps on the users, which can overwhelm them. The free paid apps are only available for a limited time, however, so it’s best to move fast to get them.
As to how the apps are chosen and how users can predict which paid apps might be offered for free, there are currently no details for users to draw conclusions from, VentureBeat reports. Customers will simply have to check back once a week to see if the apps they want are free.
