Global Geopolitical Series: Violence continues in Gaza as Israel and Hamas exchange fire and rockets

The violence continues in Gaza, despite United States’ and Israel’s search for a peace agreement with the Palestinian authorities. In the latest spark of violence, dozens of rockets were fired by Hamas militia late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. The warning sirens have been ringing through the night. According to reports, at least three projectiles landed in Israeli territory while the rest were intercepted by Israel’s iron dome anti-missile defense system. No human injury is reported, however, the explosions reportedly caused some damages to the buildings and nearby cars.

In response to the Hamas militia’s activity, Israeli air force first carried out 25 precision strikes in the Gaza strip. In the second round of IAF attack 8 targets were struck, and in the third round, another 11 targets were struck.

The continued violence along the Israeli border, which increased after the United States shifted its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in May, make anyone wonder whether a true peace agreement can ever be reached. It’s no wonder that U.S. President Donald Trump called it the most difficult deal to make - peace between Israel and Palestinian Authority (PA).
