‘Girl Meets World’ season 3’s episode 5 will find Maya struggling with an identity crisis which strains her friendship with Riley.
The synopsis for “Girl Meets Triangle” posted on Carter Matt stated, “Maya’s identity crisis kicks into full gear when her art teacher makes her realize her friendship with Riley may be affecting her artist’s voice.”
The upcoming episode will find Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) struggling with her real identity while tackling the challenges of high school life. This may put a strain in her friendship with Riley (Rowan Blanchard) as she has been unpredictable lately.
Episode 5’s promo featured Maya conflicted with massive inner changes. Riley complains to Topanga (Danielle Fishel), “She’s been getting good grades. She’s behaving all over the place. Fix her!”
In the next scene, Maya is in art class. Her teacher hovers over artwork and asks what it’s supposed to represent. Riley cuts her before she could answer, “She’s a rebel and you’re going to love her.” The art teacher looks at Maya straight in the eyes and says, “That is not who you are.”
At the end of the promo, a rather conflicted looking Maya is seen surrounded by the Matthews family. Topanga tells her, “You have not been you. Come back.”
In the preceding episode, entitled, “Girl Meets Permanent Record”, Maya receives an A in Spanish despite not being an overachiever in academics. On the other hand, Riley gets a full D. This puts a new twist in Maya and Riley’s friendship dynamic as Maya seemingly drifts away from her rebel personality.
Riley also believes that her academic record is tainted forever and is deeply affected by it. According to IGN, the episode also featured how Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga dealt with their daughter’s high school issues – with Cory learning some valuable lessons of his own along the way.
‘Girl Meets World’ is a coming-of-age American sitcom created by Michael Jacobs and April Kelly. It is intended as the sequel to ‘Boy Meets World’, a popular television series that ran from the 1990s to the early 2000s. Season 3’s episode 5 is scheduled to air on Disney Channel on June 24, 2016.
