‘Girl Meets World’ season 3’s episode 18, entitled “Girl Meets Christmas Maya,” will find Riley excited over the holidays. However, Maya shows her dislike for Christmas despite Riley’s energy.
The synopsis for “Girl Meets Christmas Maya” posted on Ace Showbiz reads, “As Christmas approaches, Riley (Rowan Blanchard) gets excited to celebrate her favorite holiday, but for Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), the holidays only bring back unhappy memories from her childhood.”
Riley’s excitement for the holidays is apparent in the incoming episode’s promo as she declares, “The holidays are a best time to be a Riley.” Unfortunately her quick-witted friend doesn’t share the same sentiment and immediately pinches her in the arm.
Maya seems skeptical of Christmas celebrations and shows her distaste with Ebenezer Scrooge’s own words, “Bah hambug.” She tells Riley, “People go crazy at the holidays.” While exchanging presents for Secret Santa, Maya says they should all get over it as quickly as possible and tears through her gift in an instant.
When Riley realizes that her friend is not a fan of the holidays, she declares her intervention. She says, “We’re gonna need a Christmas miracle!” as she throws metallic confetti in the air.
It would be interesting to see how Riley can possible convince Maya that Christmas isn’t all that bad and turn things around for her best friend. It was revealed that the main reason Maya can’t stand Christmas is it bring back unhappy childhood memories.
According to Cartermatt, the incoming episode’s title is a reference to Charles Dicken’s novella ‘A Christmas Carol’, which tells the story of a bitter old miser, who transforms into a better version of himself after being confronted by the ghosts of Past, Present, and Yet to Come. Perhaps Maya will make peace with her past and move on to brighter Christmases.
‘Girl Meets World’ season 3’s episode 18, entitled “Girl Meets Christmas Maya,” is scheduled to air on Disney Channel on December 2, 2016. It was directed by Ben Savage and written by Teresa Kale.
