It is commonly a major event when much-awaited video games’ release dates are announced. In most cases, release dates are revealed along with the release of an all-new trailer. However, PlayStation may have announced the “Ghostwire: Tokyo” launch date earlier than planned, confirming that the game will be available next month.
After the State of Play dedicated to “Gran Turismo 7” this week, Sony confirmed another online event, this time for Tango Gameworks’ “Ghostwire: Tokyo.” It will not be a full-fledged event like Sony had for the first-party game, but PlayStation is teasing an “official showcase” happening on Thursday, Feb. 3, at 12 p.m. PT / 3 p.m. ET.
It will most likely feature a new gameplay trailer or even a deep dive video to give fans more idea on what to expect from “Ghostwire: Tokyo.” But fans no longer have to wait for the showcase to start to know when the game will be released.
The official PlayStation channel has already put a placeholder page for the “Ghostwire: Tokyo” showcase on YouTube. Fans can click the “Set reminder” button to receive a notification once the online event is about to begin. But the most interesting piece of information is in the description section, where PlayStation confirmed the game is launching on Friday, Mar. 25.

A March release date should not be a total surprise for anyone who has been following “Ghostwire: Tokyo” reports. Last month, an apparent leak on the PS Store New Zealand website suggested that the game would be released on Mar. 23. Leaker Tom Henderson has also reported in January that an event for the action-adventure game was in the works, suggesting that the Bethesda-published game’s launch is close.
As the title gives away, the game is set in Tokyo during a mysterious time when almost everyone in the always-busy city had gone missing. While the people are gone, spirits called Visitors have occupied the city. Players will assume the role of Akito, who will find his supernatural abilities awakened amid a scary time in Tokyo. Previous trailers have also shown a cryptic group wearing Hannya masks that might explain the phenomenon happening in the city.
