A supposed Quality Assurance Tester took to Reddit what he reportedly learned from beta-testing the “Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut” that primarily features the Iki Island expansion. The source claimed that they were able to play roughly 20 hours of the upcoming content, but their entire post suggests the overall gameplay could be longer.

‘Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut’ gameplay rumors

Sony recently unveiled the first look at the “Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut,” but many details remained under wraps even after the PlayStation State of Play showcase last week. For now, Sony and Sucker Punch Productions confirmed that it would contain a number of PS5-specific updates. But PS4 players will still have access to an array of new content to be released under the Iki Island expansion.

The Iki Island map is reportedly the same size as the southern part of Tsushima. The Reddit user, who only uses QualityAssuranceTest as their username, said the expansion would deliver 15 to 20 hours of added gameplay. But they also noted that during the supposed beta test, they only focused on the main quest and only “did little” of the side quests. If the report is to be believed, the overall content from the expansion could well exceed 20 hours.

One of the highlights of the “Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut” is a new story. There was not much information revealed about the Iki Island plot in the Reddit post, but the source has high praises for it. In an official PlayStation Blog post, the developers only said, “In this new story, Jin travels to the island to investigate rumors of a Mongol presence. But soon, he finds himself caught up in events with deeply personal stakes that will force him to relive some traumatic moments from his past.”

The leaker also claimed that the Iki Island features a volcano and will add new wildlife. Aside from the monkey that was briefly shown in the “Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut” trailer, the supposed beta tester said the expansion also has leopards and squirrels. New armor sets are also reportedly included in the expansion, including a new light-graded hooded outfit that would give Jin a 25 percent boost in attack speed.

‘Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut’ release date

Sucker Punch promised to provide more information about and Iki Island soon. Meanwhile, despite the well-detailed Reddit post, fans are still advised to take it with a grain of salt.

The “Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut” will be released on Aug. 20. Fans who purchased its PS4 version can get the Director’s Cut upgrade for $19.99.
