There are a ton of juicy news stories that come out of the video game industry every day, but one of the juiciest to hit the web yet is the one about George R.R. Martin and From Software. This is incredibly exciting because one is the creator of the “Game of Thrones” universe and the other made the “Dark Souls” franchise. The reports are basically suggesting that they are teaming up to create a new game.

As Comic Book reports, there are only a few things that people know about the next game coming out of From Software. Previously, all anyone knew about it was that it was going to be the biggest title made by the developer yet and that it would be an open-world game. Now, there are reports suggesting that George R.R. Martin will have a hand in making that world come to life.

There are a lot of reasons for why this is exciting and one of the most significant is the matter of world-building. In order to create a convincing, immersive environment for players to dive into, the details need to be just right. George R.R. Martin is a master at this with his book series “A Song of Ice and Fire” and the “Game of Thrones” TV franchise being proof of this.

As to how involved George R.R. Martin is actually going to be, this is still not clear. There are some suggestions that he will basically be just a consultant. Others appear absolutely sure that he will be working closely with the developers as the head writer for the game. The latter might just be wishful thinking on the part of fans.

Either way, this news involving George R.R. Martin and the “Dark Souls” creators should be taken with a grain of salt. Then again, there have been rumblings for a while now that might just lend this development some credibility.
