‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 star Maisie Williams expressed her frustration over spoilers leaked online during a recent interview. She was especially upset with the fact that the leaks may have come from an insider. The actress also revealed that she wanted to do justice to Arya’s final scenes as the series comes to a close on HBO.
Williams expressed her frustration over spoilers for the upcoming season posted online during an interview with Radio Times. She said, “It really, really upsets me… Because, there’s only a certain group of people who’d look at that anyway, compared to the audience that watches the show.”
She continued, “It hurts. It’s just like, oh we wanted to tell this story, and yeah, lots of people don’t want to read it, and don’t want to look at it… But then it’s even more annoying when you know [the leaks] might be from someone on the inside, and it’s just like… you’re trying to make something really cool, that is really cool, and people really like, and it’s like ‘stop ruining it’.”
The 19-year old English actress plays Arya Stark, a major character in the television adaptation based on George R. R. Martin’s fantasy-drama novels “A Song of Ice and Fire.” Arya debuted in season 1’s premiere and remains a major character throughout the series. Maisie is set to return as the fearless daughter of Lord Eddard and Lady Catelyn of House Stark of Winterfell.
It was speculated that season 7 will feature a long-anticipated reunion between the Stark children, specifically Arya and her siblings Sansa and Jon Snow. Arya was last seen slitting Walder Frey’s (David Bradley) throat in revenge for his involvement at the infamous Red Wedding, where her brother King Robb (Richard Madden) and mother Lady Catelyn (Michelle Fairley) were killed.
Williams revealed that she wanted to do justice for Arya’s final scenes in the series as she prepares to bid farewell to the show, which is nearing its end on HBO. During an interview with ET, Williams admitted her fears saying, "It has been my security blanket and it's been a safety net… If I haven't worked, or if I haven't landed a role, I never beat myself up too much, because I've always got Game of Thrones."
She continued, "I'm just trying to do the last few scenes that I have justice... I'm just trying to shape Arya the way that I have been so far, and give her a nice arc to end with, and hope the people are happy with it."
‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is expected to air on HBO sometime in summer 2017. No official release date has been announced as of the present.
