Proving once again that it is a creative content monster of a developer, Epic Games just announced that it was adding vending machines to its hugely popular Fortnite Battle Royale game. These dispensers will basically sell weapons to the players in exchange for materials that are normally used for building. The higher the rarity of the weapon, the more expensive it is going to be.
At this point, it’s difficult to imagine any other development company that could have come up with the idea of adding vending machines to a Battle Royale game where 100 players are trying to kill each other in a time-limited session other than Epic. The resulting concept is absolutely brilliant, as well, with the vending machines being scattered all over the map, Gamespot reports.
The specifics as to where they will be placed is still being kept under wraps, but the developers have revealed how much the weapons might cost based on their rarity. Guns with the Common rarity label will cost 100 materials while those with the highest rarity of Gold will cost about 500 materials.
In addition, it seems each type of material can be used to exchange only for items that they are assigned to. The available weapons are chosen at random and are rotated, as well, so there’s never any guarantee that players will get exactly the weapon they want.
This particular aspect already has some significant potential shifts in gameplay, but the so-called “content update” also comes with a new High Explosives mode. It’s basically like Sniper Shootout, but with stuff that goes boom with a large area of impact, Forbes reports.
On top of these exciting developments, however, it’s the fact that these contents will be added to the game without any major patch is what makes the event so unique. Epic is basically providing excellent and thrilling contents without the usual interruptions that such things entail.
