The release window for “Fortnite" Android may have been discovered recently by data miners, which has set expectations for a summer launch. This is good news for fans of the hit battle royale property, which has been out on iOS for months. With the prospect of millions of additional players straining its servers, Epic Games is now preparing to receive the inevitable deluge of “Fortnite" Android users.
The information was dug up by Tracker Network, which noted in a YouTube video that the latest update for the game hints at the potential release window for “Fortnite” Android. Among the data mined were items like “Android_Engine,” “Android_Game,” and “Android_RuntimeOptions.” They were also tagged with the label “release 5.0,” which is telling.
For starters, 5.0 is the current version of the game running on all platforms. It’s “Fortnite" Season 5, after all. With this being the case, “Fortnite" Android should be released before the current season ends, which puts its release period somewhere around summertime.
This should prove to be good news for players who have been waiting for the release of the game on Android. As Android Headlines notes, a whopping 85 percent of mobile users in the world are on Android. This would make the release of “Fortnite Android” an event to remember. This is also where the problem comes in.
With the expected deluge of Android players coming to the game, the release of “Fortnite" Android is expected to overwhelm Epic Games’ current servers. This is why the company is reportedly increasing its number of servers in preparation for the inevitable influx of competitors in the game, Express reports.
Considering that Epic is still having server issues even with the number of players that it has right now, it’s not difficult to imagine the mountain of problems that the launch of “Fortnite" Android will bring. For Android users, it might be best to expect difficulties in playing the game during the first few days of its release.
