After the launch of “Kingdom Hearts 3” earlier this year, gaming fans are now demanding Square Enix to reveal details about the release date of “Final Fantasy 7 Remake.” The video game company might be holding off on that information for understandable reasons. But its latest earnings report might have revealed a vital detail.

The company published its latest financial report covering the fiscal year ending on March 31. In it, Square Enix also revealed their earnings forecast for the current fiscal year running from April 1 through March 31, 2020. The numbers might have confirmed that “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” is not dropping anytime within this period.

By the end of March next year, Square Enix eyes a net sales of 270 billion yen or around $2.46 billion, based on the latest forex rate as of this writing. Meanwhile, it also reported a 271.048 billion yen net sales as of March this year. What does this say about “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” and its possible release date?

Financial briefings are a common source of information and have manifestations whether major game titles are arriving at a certain fiscal period. Obviously, if a video game company eyes to release a game like “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” within the current fiscal year, it would have reflected on Square Enix’s report.

As TweakTown pointed out, that slight decrease in expected revenues suggests that a big title such as “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” is not coming out until March 31, 2020. There is also no assurance if the game will be released in the remaining months of 2020.

As of now, all fans know is that it is called a “remake” for a reason. Unlike a remastered version where developers mostly update the animations for higher resolution and quality, “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” will have an all-new gameplay. From the original game’s turn-based gameplay, the upcoming title will focus more on action-oriented combat.
