"Final Fantasy 14" producer and director Naoki Yoshida recently addressed fans with an important message on behalf of all the game's developers. Yoshida tackled the response his team has been receiving for the "Endwalker" expansion so far and asked players to be more considerate with how they communicate their feedback.
Expectations were high for the "Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker" expansion, but its launch last month was far from perfect. Its early access and official launches were delayed by a couple of weeks. And players have been experiencing long queue times due to the lack of enough servers to accommodate the influx of new and existing players trying to join the game and experience its final expansion.
In a recent interview (translation via Reddit), Yoshida said they are thankful for the players' feedback and recommendations on how to improve "Final Fantasy 14." However, he noted that the words used by some players can be "a little overboard" and said that he wishes that they can stop the "verbal abuses" directed at the developers.
"I have only one request to every players out there — please imagine that you're speaking face to face with a developer whom you may not know his name nor face and imagine how they'd feel before sending your feedback over, and I'll be happy if people can do so politely," Yoshida said.
The "Final Fantasy 14" added that he can take the harsher words used in some of the feedback. But he also pointed out that not everyone has a "strong mental level" like him to process the hurtful responses from players.
Yoshida added that abusive language in player feedback does not help anyone and might even make the developers less motivated in their work. "Mistakes are mistakes of course and they should be notified, but I'll appreciate it if everyone can give careful thought in their thoughts and feedback before sending them over," the "Final Fantasy 14" director added.
Yoshida has penned several updates before and after the release of the "Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker" expansion, often with apologetic words, for the launch delay and persistent congestion issues. The latter has even forced Square Enix to temporarily stop the new sales of the game. As of this writing, the developers have yet to provide a schedule for when the game will be available to new players again.
