Family Dollar is a popular variety store chain in the United States, and recently, it has issued a recall on more than 400 items that were not properly stored before being delivered to the stores. Based on the reports, some of the products included in the recall are over-the-counter drugs, toothpaste, sunscreen, eye drops, soaps, dishwashing liquid, antiperspirants, and even hemorrhoid ointment.
As per CBS News, prior to being shipped to the Family Dollar outlets throughout the U.S., the items were accidentally stored at the wrong temperature. The recall includes a long list of products that are being regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and these were delivered from May 1 to June 10, 2022.
Family Dollar posted its recall notice last week, and this also appeared on FDA’s website. In the notice, it was explained that the retailer is recalling various products as they were "stored outside of labeled temperature requirements."
Included in the official list of recalled items at Family Dollar stores are major brands such as Benadryl, Crest, Dove, Colgate, Tylenol, Bayer, Alka Seltzer, Claritin, and Old Spice Pepcid.
All the Family Dollar locations that received the affected items were already notified of the recall and were instructed to pull out and stop selling them.
For customers who have purchased the recalled products, they can return them at the Family Dollar branch where they were bought and will be accepted even without a receipt. It was stated in the notice that Family Dollar stores in Delaware are not included in the recall.
Customers who may have questions about the recall can get in touch with Family Dollar by contacting its customer service at (844) 636-7687 during office hours. For people who develop any kind of health issues after using any of the recalled products must immediately contact their doctor or health care provider.
Meanwhile, USA Today reported that this is not the first time that Family Dollar has issued a recall this year. Just in April, the retailer had to recall several skin care products that were also stored at the wrong temperature.
In February, the variety store brand also recalled various items such as dietary supplements, pet foods, cosmetics, drugs, and some food that were delivered to stores in the South as it was discovered that these were stored in a rat-infested distribution warehouse in Arkansas.
