The long wait for “Fairy Tail” 2018 is about to end because it's coming this weekend. And luckily for fans in different parts of the world, they can also watch the final season premiere as it airs in Japan.

Recently, major anime streaming platforms Funimation and Crunchyroll confirmed that they will be streaming “Fairy Tail” 2018, most likely with English subtitles, according to Anime News Network. The final series will originally air on TV Tokyo and its affiliates in Japan on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 7 a.m. local time.

Unfortunately, the specific details about “Fairy Tail” 2018's availability on Funimation and Crunchyroll were not yet announced. So it will be safe to assume that there will be some gap between the original air date in Japan and the anime's release schedule in other regions.

Meanwhile, “Fairy Tail” 2018 the synopsis reads, “Natsu, Lucy, and Happy return in the final season of Fairy Tail! They’ve faced some seriously tough challenges but there’s still more to do.”

One of the highlights in “Fairy Tail” 2018 is the task of finding their guild master, Makarov. At the same time, the protagonists will be facing some of their fiercest enemies from the kingdom of Alvarez. The official teaser also refers to the events in “Fairy Tail” 2018 as the main characters’ “greatest adventure yet.”

The “Fairy Tail” 2018 series is based on Hiro Mashima’s manga franchise of the same title. The first anime adaptation went on air from 2009 to 2013 with a total of six seasons. The sequel series followed in 2014, consisting of the seventh season as well as the “Fairy Tail Zero” episodes that concluded in the first quarter of 2016.

The time gap between the second series finale and the “Fairy Tail” 2018 is the longest hiatus in all of the anime franchise. Mashima only announced the release of “Fairy Tail” 2018 in July 2017 and it was also confirmed it will cover all events until the final manga chapter.

Curious fans can get a hint about how “Fairy Tail” 2018 will end. Its counterpart manga series concluded with the release of the 63rd volume late last year. In a nutshell, the manga ended with where it all began — Natsu and Lucy’s dragon-slaying adventure.
