Facebook Cracks Are Getting Bigger, Years Of Ruthlessness Could Be Catching Up

Mark Zuckerberg has earned a non-flattering reputation for being one of the most ruthless tech moguls to have ever walked in Silicon Valley. This has led to the stupendous growth of Facebook, allowing the social network to accumulate over two billion users. However, the past two years have shown that cracks were forming on the company’s walls and it could all come crumbling down soon.

A recent Vanity Fair article highlights many of Zuckerberg’s most egregious tactics through the years, many of which have been forgotten by the public as new details come out. Aside from stealing ideas, Facebook has also done its best to eliminate its competition by sucking out their lifeblood while strengthening itself with talented individuals.

These tactics seem to have finally caught up with the social network, however, as public conscious individuals are now waking up to the dangers of the company. Facebook apps are getting uninstalled in droves, former executives are now speaking out against social media, and entire governments are pinning the social network under a huge rock of inquiry.

Many experts agree that most of the problems that Facebook is now facing were actually caused by its own actions. Its relentless pursuit of growth has allowed many abusers to use its platform to spread hate, propaganda, and lies. As it turns out, social media is an incredibly effective tool for undermining Democracy.

Facebook was made aware of these problems years before they reached the public, of course, but the company simply ignored the warnings. Even when the severity of the issues it caused was finally revealed, Zuckerberg and his cronies chose to initially deflect the blame.

Recently, it would seem that the former Harvard student has had a change of heart and promised to fixed Facebook. An example of this is the implantation of a new survey that contains only two questions, which will then determine the kind of news that users will see on their News Feeds, Digital Trends reports.

Unfortunately, these solutions might cause more trouble than they solve. They could increase tribalism, for example, as well as help Fake News spread even more.
