EstrellaTV’s Premios de la Radio 2017 Experiences Significant Audience Growth-- Up 32% Over Last Year Among Adults 18-49

BURBANK, Calif., Nov. 15, 2017 -- EstrellaTV, the fastest growing, minority owned Spanish language network in the U.S. announced today that the 18th edition of its Premios de la Radio experienced a 32% growth nationally among adults 18-49.

According to Nielsen Media Research(1), Premios de la Radio 2017 experienced significant gains in audiences across all demos as compared to same period last year, with substantial increases among adults 18-49 (+32%) and adults 18-34 (+47%). The event’s red carpet special also saw significant audience increases in the triple digits, with a 268% growth among adults 18-34, as compared to last year.

Premios de la Radio also took the #1 spot in key Hispanic markets across the U.S. In the Los Angeles market, EstrellaTV affiliate KRCA-TV beat all networks regardless of language for a fifth year in a row. EstrellaTV in Los Angeles beat Univision, NBC, ABC, Fox, Unimas, CBS and Telemundo across the board in primetime among adults 18-49 and 25-54(2).

Now in its 18th edition, Premios de la Radio, the only awards show that recognizes and celebrates Regional Mexican music in the U.S., has become a ratings juggernaut for EstrellaTV. The awards ceremony features Latin music’s hottest recording superstars, and for the first time in its history, was broadcast live from two stages, the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California and Plaza de las Americas in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. The three-hour live musical extravaganza celebrated the top recording artists in Regional Mexican music and featured never before seen world television performances and music tributes by top recording Latin superstars.

The show kicked off with a red carpet event at 7:00 p.m. and was followed by the main event, which aired from 8:00-11:00 p.m. nationally. This year, Premios de la Radio was dedicated in its entirety to millions of young immigrants, also known as Dreamers, with a special opening act by some of today’s hottest and youngest Regional Mexican superstars. Singer songwriter Joss Favela led the star-studded lineup along with Gerardo Ortiz, Luis Coronel, Christian Nodal, Alfredo Olivas, and Kevin Ortiz, who performed the world television debut of “Somos Dreamers.”

This year, EstrellaTV joined forces and stood in solidarity with the national campaign “Defend Our Dreamers,” which emphasizes the urgency of approving a clean “Dream Act” before the end of the year.
