Epic Games Store’s 15 days of free downloadable games could end with a popular title. The digital storefront is reportedly gearing up to give away a game from “a good franchise” to end its annual holiday event.
The information comes from the well-known leaker, who goes by the name of billbil-kun. PC gamers might not be familiar with the tipster, but they gained popularity for accurately leaking the monthly lineup of free games on PlayStation Plus. They have also been leaking the free games that have been offered on the Epic Games Store as part of this year’s Holiday Sale.
For Thursday, Dec. 29 — the last day of Epic Games Store’s giveaways — the leaker said a title from a popular franchise would be offered. But they decided against revealing what it is, adding, “It doesn’t deserve to be leaked this way.”
Fans have shared a myriad of speculations on what the mystery game could be, including the remastered “Mass Effect” trilogy, “God of War,” “Cyberpunk 2077,” and “Red Dead Redemption 2.” But others have a hard time believing that the upcoming freebie could top “Death Stranding.”
“F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch” is currently up for grabs. And while Epic Games Store users await the final giveaway, billbil-kun has leaked the games to be offered in the next two days.
The leaker said Epic Games Store will offer a free download of “Severed Steel” on Tuesday, Dec. 27. PC gamers who want to play first-person shooters alone might find this title interesting as it features a single-player FPS gameplay. But it also promises a “dynamic, unscripted, squad-based” AI system, so the matches will not feel repetitive.
On Wednesday, Dec. 28, Epic Games Store will reportedly offer the action RPG “Mortal Shell” for free. Its title refers to the shells of defeated warriors that players can find in the game. Each has a unique combat style that players have to master.
Epic Games Store has released one free game each day since its 2022 Holiday Sale kicked off last Dec. 15, with a new free download going live every 11:00 a.m. EST. Anyone who has an account on the digital store can download the giveaways.
