“Elementary” season 7 is now in production and this was confirmed by the show’s staff and writers. Filming officially began in July and it only means that the cancellation rumors are false.
While the shoot for “Elementary” season 7 started, the sixth season wrapped up in September. There were twists at the end and this is where the next season’s plot is going to pick up from. In his recent interview, showrunner Rob Doherty also shared what to expect from the new episodes.
“When we come back in the seventh season, a year will have passed,” he told TV Line. “So all of our characters will have had time to really reflect on what happened at the end of the sixth season.”

CBS's Sherlock Holmes adaptation that stars Jonny Lee Miller (Sherlock Holmes) and Lucy Liu (Dr. Joan Watson) was thought to have been canceled after season 6 and this was because it was originally designed to be the show’s final season.
"You're talking about a scene that killed me to write because it was my goodbye, too," Doherty said. "I had to assume this was the end for the series.
In any case, CBS ordered “Elementary” season 7 and its premiere episode will continue with Sherlock Holmes and Joan Watson solving cases in another venue. As reported by Express, the synopsis of last season’s finale titled “Whatever Remains, However Improbable” reads: “Holmes and Watson face their greatest challenge to date when a murder investigation threatens to destroy their partnership.”
That finale concluded with the lead cast moving to London and “Elementary” season 7 will reveal how they ended up in a new place. Now, the production team has a reason for moving them to the U.K. and they said that they chose to go to another place because they feel it is a more suitable environment for the characters.
Besides, Watson and Holmes really belong to London so they were brought there. With the relocation for “Elementary” season 7, viewers will get to see new adventures and storylines that promise to get more exciting.
“Elementary” seasons 7 is predicted to premiere in April 2019 in its usual timeslot of 10 p.m. on CBS.
